The Ten commandments

Exodus 20
 And God spoke all these words, saying:

2"I am the LORD thy God, who have brought thee out of the land of Egypt,
out of the house of bondage.

3"Thou shalt have no other gods before Me.
Clearly with this statement God condemns any worship of any other "god".

4"Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of
anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in
the water under the earth.
 I have been in churches that have pictures and crosses complete with "the
body of Christ" attached that I have seen people fall down and worship which is
clearly a violation of this commandment. Since the word "worship" means to
work for then the same could be said of all US money as well as many other
country's money, are not the founding fathers "in the earth"?

5Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them; for I, the LORD
thy God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the
children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate Me,

6and showing mercy unto thousands of them that love Me and keep My
commandments.

7"Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain, for the LORD
will not hold him guiltless that taketh His name in vain.
 Couldn't watch a night of television without hearing someone break this
commandment, even on the news I see politicians and ministers speak vainly
of God as if the Mention of his name will convince people of their piety. You
shall know a tree by its fruit after all.

8"Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.

9Six days shalt thou labor and do all thy work;

10but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD thy God. In it thou shalt
not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy
maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates.

11For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in
them is, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath
day and hallowed it.
 This is probably the most misunderstood commandment of them all. God
wanted everyone to have at least one day off a week. Imagine that, a day of rest,
a day to let the physical heal and the mind to relax. As with most things in life,
man has made the simple complex with a huge assortment of rituals designed
to please the Living God which makes the whole point of "rest" meaningless, I
say forget all that and enjoy the Sabbath and do not forget to thank your Maker
for giving you a day off. God made the Sabbath for man and not the other way
around.

12"Honor thy father and thy mother, that thy days may be long upon the land
which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
The first command with promise, God never said to honor your parents if they
deserve it, God said to honor your parents and he would make your days on
Earth longer.
13"Thou shalt not kill.
 HMMM does that apply to invading foreign nations? Sure does. Does that apply
to the unborn? Sure does. Surely God will remember and cause all to reap what
they sow. Satan being the father of all murderers his children shall share his
fate.

14"Thou shalt not commit adultery.
Most people think nothing about this command it is violated so often, on
television, in politics and in many peoples life. They actually celebrate the
marriage this does not happen to for it is so rare. Surely the marriage is the
basic building block of society and as this block is eroded so too is society.

15"Thou shalt not steal.
This will definitely get many people, from politicians to clergy to regular
people. Most thief's are never "caught" by the system and those that are will
pay a much smaller price then those that "got away with their crimes".

16"Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor.
Where to start with this one, I hear politicians, news people, clergy, and regular
people break this command everyday. They spout propaganda designed to
enflame the hearts and minds of the common man to take a certain course of
action, usually war related, sometimes theft related, always evil in its design.
This is the primary tool of ALL disinformation artists. News commentators,
political hacks and con-men always use lies and deceit to get their desired
outcomes. Surely as Satan is the father of all liars, people that rely upon deceit
shall share the fate of their father.

17"Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's house; thou shalt not covet thy
neighbor's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his
ass, nor anything that is thy neighbor's."
This commandment is meant to nip many of the other sins in the bud. By
following this commandment we may actually prevent murder, theft, adultery,
etc. from taking place. This commandment prevents us from enticing
someone's wife or servant or animal from leaving them. With the careful
following of this commandment we gain control of our own emotions and gain
discipline. Most modern advertisements runs afoul of this commandment and
those that promote bad behavior better take heed, they will surely share the
punishments of those that are lead astray.
